Analysis of Magazine Cover


  • The bold red title contrasts with the blue background which makes it stand out. The title is also partly covered by the picture but many would already know this magazine by the style of the title. (Institution)
  • Sub title which could be relating to the theme. It tells the audience what to look forward to.
  • Date and price. Together to show important information. If it is the right issue and if you can afford it. This also reflects the magazines target audience. It could be aimed at more well off people.
  • Headlines relating to other topics inside the magazine. They will relate to what the magazine style is trying to achieve. For example as the magazine is military style there will be references to soldiers and battle.
  • Sub Headlines relating to what is inside the articles. Gives more detail.
  • The blue background makes the white and red headlines stand out.
  • The picture takes up the whole page and relates to what the magazine is going to talk about. There are references talking about ‘battles’ and ‘fights’. This relates to the picture. The picture is important because pictures can aim at a certain target audiences. For example an older audience may not know who Christina Aguilera is.
  • Visible barcode at bottom left hand corner.
  • The Main Headline is there to draw attention to Christina Aguilera and what is happening in her life. Many people know who she is and want to know what she has to say. The title also uses a strong term ‘fight back’ which makes you wonder what she is talking about and makes us want to know the gossip. It is also in bold print so people can glimpse at the headline and want to read on.
  • Introduces artist in different colour to show importance. All the other headlines are coloured in white. This also shows her importance
